-------------------------------------------
Hi there. My name is Blondie and I am excited to share my story with you today. The thought that I may soon be in my forever home, seems almost unreal. Especially after all I have gone through. I promise though that I will try to be the best girl I can be every day with my new family. I will try to make some smile every day, and make sure that they always know they are loved. There was once a time in my life when I had no love and I never want anyone to feel that way.
My story starts as a lonely stray. I am sure you have heard this story before. I was abandoned by those I loved the most and ended up on the streets. Trying to survive on your own is one thing, but trying to stay alive AND protect your family....well that is something else. There were days when we went hungry and I felt so bad. This was not the life that I had imagined for my baby. I wanted him to have so much more, and instead, we spent our days roaming just trying to find a place to belong. It figures that when someone finally did come across us that it wasn't to welcome us home but bring us to the animal shelter.
I thought being on the streets was scary, but being in a shelter that is packed full of animals begging for their second chance and knowing there is a chance they won't get it...it can keep one up. I was almost positive that I wouldn't make it out. I wasn't fooling myself. I was just some stray....one of the hundreds...and I was on the shyer side. There is no way someone would pick me out of all the other dogs. I was just hoping that my puppy would make it out. He was about as cute as they come and someone had to get him out....they had to. He had to make it out.....
It wasn't long after that I got word that he had been rescued and was leaving the shelter. I was so happy. It didn't matter what happened to me now because at least he was safe. When they came to my kennel, I knew this was the end. They collected me and I knew I couldn't change my fate so went with them. You can imagine my surprise when we took a turn and I ended up at the front of the shelter instead of the back. They told me that I was getting out, that the same rescue who took my puppy was going to take me too! I was absolutely stunned! My foster family greeted me and told me I was safe, and before I knew it I was out of the shelter and on my way to a whole new life.
I am no longer a dirty and unwanted stray. I was given a name...Blondie. I was cleaned up, and now I get daily meals, have a dog bed, and people that love me. Not even in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine that I would be here, but I could not be more thankful! I am the kind of girl that makes sure I express how thankful I am every day. I absolutely love cuddling with my foster family and will sometimes show it by rolling around like a clown and when I get embarrassed try to hide my face under one of my paws. Other times, I am just chilling in the same room with them enjoying the fact that I know I am safe and loved.
I am a pretty laid-back and chill girl. I haven't shown much interest in playing. Part of that is probably because I never had the chance to. I was always in survival mode so didn't grow up with toys or playing fun games. Playing in water also doesn't really interest me. While playing and romping around may not be my thing, I am an excellent napper and cuddler though! ;) So, if that is more your style as well, I think we would be perfect for one another!
Speaking of perfection, my ideal home would be a calmer one. Now with that said, I will hop right into the car on my own and plop down. So, once I feel more secure I do believe that I would enjoy going places with my new family from time to time. Overall, I would consider myself to be a Netflix and Chill girl. :) I have not been on any walks yet, so am unsure how I would feel about them and going hiking. I love feeling like I belong and am part of the family, so would probably enjoy both once I get more accustomed to the leash.
I may not have a lot of experience doing things outside the house yet, but my manners at home are impeccable! I am potty and kennel trained. I have not been a big chewer, nor have I been a big barker in my foster home. You can also trust me to have free-roam of the house when you are away. I even believe that I would do well in an apartment setting.
I know that I will come around other animals in my future home and you are probably wondering how I do. I do well with other dogs and am being fostered around them. As I mentioned above, I never really got to just have fun in my past, so don't really seem to know how to play with them. As time goes on, I may be interested in engaging in play with them, but as of right now, I am indifferent to other dogs. I have not met a cat yet as my foster family doesn't have any. Given my laid-back personality, I think I would probably do fine with them if they were chill like me. I also have not been around any kids. I am a pretty gentle and loving girl, but I do spook easily so it may be best that the kids are older if my new family has some.
I believe that I have shared just about everything that I know about myself with you. I really hope that sharing my story has made you realize that I belong with you. I haven't met all that many people in my life though, so if you do adopt me please don't take it personally that I may be timid and unsure at first. I will say that you won't have to worry about me jumping on you or others though since I tend to hang back at first.
I hope that you will apply to adopt me!
Please I am begging you though, only apply to adopt me if you can keep me forever. If you can't keep me through ALL of life's changes, don't be the one that makes me have to be passed around a few months/years down the line. That just isn't fair to me.
I would NEVER give up on you, so please don't give up on me. I want to be your forever...not your until dog.

~Blondie is super sweet. She loves her people, pets and snuggles. I think she will get more playful with time. She loves her feeding time. Blondie will go to her crate and patiently wait for her food. She is a fast eater so she is getting her food in a slow bowl feeder. She will bring much joy to the family that adopts her!
Blondie has done well in our home with other dogs. I feel she would do fine as an only dog also. Our home is pretty quiet and calm so not sure how she would do with a lot of activity~
