Blanca is a very, very, very special lady. She is a staff and volunteer favorite, and to be honest, we are having a hard time letting her go she's so special. But as hard as it is to let this perfect angel leave the rescue, we know she deserves a family and couch of her own. Blanca came to Sanctuary Rescue when she was turned in to a local animal shelter after being found as a stray. She was skin and bones, completely blind, and at the time had a life-threatening infection. The shelter knows we like special potato-like dogs so they called us and we said, BRING HER NOW! And since then we have fallen madly in love with her. She has gone from skin and bones to um, could lose a few pounds; she's now perfectly healthy but unfortunately still blind. She's seen the veterinary eye specialist, and they said she's in no pain and requires no long-term care. She's just blind, and that's the way it is going to be. But listen, when we tell you this dog is perfect, this is dog is perfect. She's gentle and loving and friendly and gets around just fine. She greets everyone that comes into our rescue resource center with enthusiasm and gentle nudges for pets and head scratches, and then subsequently everyone that meets her also falls madly in love with her.

We don't know anything about Blanca's history. We are guessing her to be in the 4 to 5 year old range, but who really knows. She's a short, stocky 50ish pounds. Because she can't see, car rides make her nervous but she rides pretty well. She walks fine on a leash but really doesn't care too much about going on long walks. Despite not being able to see them, Blanca loves playing with tennis balls. She knows exactly where her bed is in our office and helps herself to it whenever she's feeling like a nap. She can hear a food wrapper a mile away and insists that you share snacks with her (and she's so wonderful you will give in 100% of the time and indeed share your snack). Blanca is a sweetheart, perfection wrapped in fur, a loving, gentle soul that hasn't let any of the yucky stuff that has happened to her affect her love for life. She does fine with other dogs but prefers dogs that are on the calm side. Unpredictable movements by over enthusiastic dogs make her nervous, for the same reason we'd like to see her in a home with no children or older children that she can feel at ease around.

Blanca's adoption fee is $295, which includes up to date vaccinations, spay, and microchip.
