Blackie Labrador Retriever Mix Brooklyn, NY

Blackie is a handsome 6 year old, 60 lbs lab mix. Like most labs, he is intelligent and will be a trusted companion-- the true definition of a four-legged best friend. Blackie was originally a country boy, who packed up his leash and doggie bowls, and headed for New York with dreams of a better life with a new family.

He soon discovered that the city living was full of strange sights and loud, scary noises -- a big adjustment from his quiet, rural upbringing. He is very timid and nervous in new settings as he is still adjusting to his new fast-paced world. Blackie would thrive in a more residential setting, one that is a bit quieter and where he can have a backyard to flounce around. He gets along well with children and other dogs, however, Blackie likes to takes things slow in the beginning so all interactions should be supervised and slow. Once he knows that you are his mom/dad he will be so loyal to you and ask you for cuddles and reassurance all day long.

I know Blackie will be the sweetest addition to anyone’s household as long as you have the patience to let him feel comfortable and loved. Before long, you will get to see his silly, playful side.

All of our dogs come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
