Birdy is the easiest dog we’ve ever fostered. Birdy is good with our elderly cat, smaller dogs & kids. She is quiet, easy going, super sweet and listens well in the house. She is also crate trained, house trained and always wants to be loved on but isn’t needy. She likes men, women and children and really really loves my husband who affectionately refers to Birdy as his “office buddy”. Birdy also requires very little grooming. If you’re looking for a perfect companion who is happy to lay in a chair all day next to you while you work or to enjoy retirement with and a dog you don’t have to put up in another room when your grandkids come, Birdy is your girl.

She needs a responsible family who won’t be forgetful about leaving doors open and always remember to check the lawn guy closed the gate before letting her outside. To set her up for success, we keep a leash at the front door so if we need to unexpectedly open the door we just put the leash on her and then open the door or we put her in a crate if people are going in and out a lot just in case she sees something outside and transforms into terrier mode.

Not a picky eater
Loves belly rubs like LOVES them, immediately offers her belly to everyone she meets
She’s not destructive (except pulling stuffing out of dog beds and toys)
She’s just an amazing, easy dog!

Accommodations
Needs a VERY secure yard so she can’t chase bunnies or birds outside the gate and wander off. She loves people but would not hesitate to chase wildlife and not be able to get back home.
Birdy prefers smaller dogs. She can start trouble with bigger dogs (it’s a little terrier thing) Birdy is not ever going to be an off leash dog, when she switches to terrier mode she is focused on her mission.
Birdy doesn’t love nail trims but isn’t too unreasonable so any professional with a heads up should be able to handle her nail trims, no problem. We have 5 personal dogs and Birdy is hands down easier than all of them and one is a therapy dog!
We can not say enough nice things about Birdy, once you meet her, you’ll get It.

We do not have a facility, all dogs are fostered in the homes of our volunteers.
