Meet Bianca

Bianca is a 5 month old Great Pyrenees pup who was left outside in the cold when her owners up and abandoned the property she was born at. Thankfully she has had a wonderful mother, Gaia, who gave birth to the litter and protected them. These pups have been in a foster home growing into young dogs. Bianca would love a home with another dog to play with because she has tons of energy for playing and wrestling out in the yard. She knows her inside manners and is doing great at being calm in the house. She’s crate trained, does really well on leashed walks, and knows to sit calmly for treats and attention. Bianca enjoys a stuffed Kong or marrow bone and very rarely chews on things she shouldn’t. Typical of her breed, when she’s outside she patrols her yard and will bark to let everyone know she’s on the job. Bianca gets along with dogs of all sizes and energy levels. She’s still learning to adjust her play style to match that of the dog she’s interacting with, but she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body and is easy to redirect if she plays a bit too rough. She has been raised with cats and ignores them, but might chase cats outside that wander into her yard. She also ignores small caged animals such as birds. She's been comfortable with children she's met on walks even though there have not been children in her foster home where she has been raised.Bianca keeps her independence and does enjoy spending time with her people - so she is not a “velcro” dog who needs to constantly be attached to you. Once she checks in to make sure all is well, she’ll often lie down and have a bit of a snooze near her person. Would you like to supervise the fun with Bianca at center stage and have her be your attentive girl on duty when needed? Put in your adoption application today.

BDHP Puppy Policy

All puppies less than 12 months of age are too young to be spayed/neutered so they are adopted out on special puppy spay/neuter agreements with a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit. Adopting families must agree to get the puppy altered within 2 weeks of 12 months of age (or when their growth plates close) and send proof of S/N to BDHPI accordingly. Adopting families are expected to pay an adoption fee of $700 minimum for purebred puppies AND will have the additional costs listed above, so please keep this in mind.

When adopting a puppy, new families need to be prepared for not only a substantial financial investment, but also a significant time commitment in order to raise your puppy properly. Crate training is a critical part of setting them up for success as well as potty training. You can't leave a puppy in the crate for longer than 4 hours max and they typically have to be let outside every hour when you are home since their bladder is not as big as an adult. You will want to make sure your puppy gets regular exercise and has plenty of mentally stimulating chew toys such as puzzle toys(food cubes, busy buddy toys, kongs, etc). Socialization the first 6 months is critical to their development socially and once they have had all of their shots, you will want to take your new puppy everywhere you can to get them used to meeting lots of new people, different dogs, and visiting places outside of the home. Obedience training is also extremely important (and actually part of our adoption agreement requirements) so that your puppy grows up to be a gentle giant instead of a giant monster!
