We expect to have quite a bit of interest in Betty and it is our preference to adopt locally when we do have alot of interest. Travel is stressful on the dogs in our care and makes it more difficult to have the dog come back to IDOG if the placement doesn't work out.

We will review your application and let you know if you made our short list of applicants. We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for - we do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. Please realize that turning in an application today will not mean that you adopt a dog tomorrow. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog. Our adoption process may take 2-4 weeks. You must be approved to adopt before we will schedule a meet and greet. Our adoption process involves vet and personal reference checks, phone interviews and a home visit.

AGE: 17 months (born April 2018)

WEIGHT: 38 lbs.

FENCE REQUIREMENT: A privacy fence of 6’ is required; she can clear a 4’ baby gate with ease. No e-fences will be considered.

COAT TYPE: Low-shedding coat that needs regular brushing and grooming. Her new family should be prepared for brushing her daily and for the expense of having her groomed approximately every 2 months (average $100/groom).

ENERGY LEVEL: Moderate. Loves to run and play.

DOGS: Great! Betty lives with 2 dogs and will need a playful dog in her new home.

CATS: Betty annoys the cat in her home and we feel a home without cats would help Betty be most successful in her new home. She is persistent in trying to get the resident cat to like her and she licks him and swats at him which the cat doesn’t like.

KIDS: Betty loves everyone. We feel she would do best with children 6+ years old since she does like to jump up and can knock small children down.

CAR: Good! Betty loves going for rides.

CRATE: Betty goes in the crate at night for sleeping. She is left out during the day when her family is at work but does like to chew on inappropriate items such as furniture. She would do best with someone home off and on during the day and where she isn’t crated all day.

Meet Beautiful Betty!
Betty is a sweet gorgeous 17 month old Goldendoodle who is looking for a new home due to a change in her family. They would like her to have a home where she has another playful dog, no cat, and a fenced yard and an owner(s) who will ensure she gets her daily exercise.

In addition to being a lovely girl, Betty is super smart and knows some commands like sit, ‘go night night’, treat and shake/high 5. She is incredibly smart and has endless potential. She is typically a quiet dog and rarely barks. She is going through her ‘tween’ years and has started chewing on the corners of furniture. She would likely do well with a lot of chew toys and possibly gated in an area of the home where she couldn’t chew inappropriate items.

Betty loves people but she REALLY loves dogs. So much so that her family feels she must have another playful dog in the home. She lives with 2 dogs now and loves to play with them all day and is also really good at reading doggy body language/has good social skills.

She does like to jump up on your counter to see what’s for dinner so she will help you keep your house clean. She can clear a baby gate at will. She will jump on people to say ‘hi’ and could knock very young children down accidentally. We feel a home where the children are 6+ years old would set her up for success.

Betty is house trained, leash trained and loves to go on walks around the neighborhood. She does pull fairly hard on the leash and may benefit from the use of a Gentle Leader nose harness vs. a regular collar when walking.

Betty is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, crate and house trained. She is heartworm negative and on a heartworm preventative.

ADOPTION FEE $450

OUR ADOPTION FEES RANGE FROM $100 - $750 depending on the dog. The following is a general guide, but each dog is assessed individually.
It currently costs IDOG an average of over $400 for basic vet, grooming and foster care on each dog; that does not allow for the ones who get sick, need surgery, have special needs or are heartworm positive.
