Meet Bernie
Hi, my name is Bernie. Well, that’s my new name and I’m getting used to it. I’m also getting used to a completely different lifestyle these days with my foster family. For the first 10 years of my life, I was a number and I lived in on a farm with a lot of Boston terriers. I was a big daddy there, helping make many puppies who went off, one by one, to live with human families.
I busted out of that place recently and this new world has been a wonderment to explore. My foster parents laugh at my antics as I follow my stubby little nose around the house and our backyard. They call me a “geriatric puppy.” Even though I’m a senior citizen in the canine world, I’m a toddler in the human world. I’m curious about everything, but just don’t have the energy to take it all in.
I would like to enjoy special times with humans who will understand and embrace a mellow fellow like me. In exchange, I will promise to show my love and affection and be the companion you are looking for.
First off, I’m not too keen on going for long walks and I haven’t learned how to play with these things they call dog toys yet. Maybe I’ll get the hang of all of this someday. It hasn’t taken me long to figure out the outdoors is my bathroom. Also, I am still accustomed to sleeping in my crate overnight and don’t mind. I have a foster brother, but we mostly avoid each other. He tries to get me to play, but I don’t have the hang of that yet.
Recently I visited the vet and as a result I will no longer be fathering puppies. While I was there, they did a full dental treatment. I’m feeling pretty good now and enjoying meals twice a day and sometimes I even have a little skip in my step. I get along well with children, though a potential family for me must have kids old enough not to play too rough with me (must be 6 and up). I think I’ll get along with other dogs. I’ve never met a cat, but I probably wouldn’t be bothered by one.
My adoption fee is $350.00. If you think you could be a good home for me, please fill out the application form linked from either our Facebook page or on our website at www.wisconsinbostonterrierrescue.com. Please see the website for details on the adoption process, and email wbtradoption@gmail.com if you have questions about Bernie or about the adoption process.
