Meet Bernie
Location: Houston, TX
Adoption fee: $300
Bernie is a young Chinese Crested Powder Puff male. He was running the streets of Houston when he got picked up and thrown in jail (the shelter). A wonderful family adopted him then decided he needed a playmate. Unfortunately the other dog picked on Bernie so they made the difficult decision to keep the other dog and surrender Bernie. They knew that Bernie would be easier to adopt out. The kept the difficult dog and committed to getting him help. I commend this young family for making this decision. Most people would have chosen the opposite.
The shelter aged Bernie at 3 years old. He could be three but I have a feeling he's younger. He is a very active boy! He loves to run and wrestle with his foster siblings. Bernie would love a house with a backyard. He gets along with dogs big and small. He likes both men and women. Bernie appears to have had a rough time on the streets. His tail has been amputated. The xrays show that it was not a surgical amputation (part of a bone was left). The xrays also show that his back right leg was broken at some point but has already started forming new bone so there's nothing we can do to repair it. He sometimes holds his back leg up when he runs. We believe that Bernie might have been hit by a car.
