Ben's Story
Meet Ben!

Ben is a stunning 3.5-year-old pittie/yellow lab mix whose soulful eyes could melt anyone on the spot. He’s as handsome as they come and just as sweet—whether he’s curled up next to you on the couch or riding shotgun in the car, this boy loves being close to his people.

Ben has had some unsure moments around young children due to the noise and fast energy, so he may thrive best in a home with older kids or adults. With patience and the right introductions, he could adjust, but his ideal home will be one that understands boundaries and gives him space to feel safe.

He does well with other dogs when introduced slowly and is very food-motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. He’s already graduated from a basic obedience class and knows sit, paw, and more! Walks are a favorite—he pulls a bit at first but quickly settles into a nice pace. Ben is also a dedicated ball chaser (though dropping the ball is still a work in progress!) and a huge fan of sniffing everything new. Scent games would be perfect for his curious mind.

Around people he trusts, Ben is affectionate and easygoing—he’s comfortable being touched anywhere on his body and is a total cuddlebug. He’s great in a fenced-in yard, but when left alone indoors he can get a little restless, so continued crate training will help him feel secure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you would like to meet Ben please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care he has received.

**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.
