Meet Bellah

Siblings Zino and Bellah were abandoned in the drop box of a rural county shelter. Zino is the big brother in every sense of the word. He is fifty-some pounds to Bellah’s thirty-some, and the more confident and laidback of the two. She can be a bit anxious and unsure, and seems to look to Zino for security. To build her confidence and expand her circle of besties, she attends doggy daycare at Red Dog Pet Resort. (Many thanks, Red Dog!) Both Bellah and Zino are sweet natured and affectionate, with each other and every human they’ve met.

They are beautiful examples of Standard American Brown Dog (one of our all-time favorite mutt-breeds!) … but since SABD is not officially recognized, we’re listing them as lab/hound mixes. (Lounds? Habbies?) They are very bonded, so we would be thrilled to see them adopted together.

Here's one volunteer's take on MIss Bellah: "Sweetness overload! So happy and friendly. Bellah loved her trip to the park. We jogged a bit and her ears were flopping in the wind and she was springy and peppy but not at all hard to handle. She was friendly with all the dogs we met - even one who was not so friendly to her. She backed away and moved on. Bellah loves to sniff and romp and was an absolute pleasure to be with. She liked meeting all the people we saw too. She can be a bit shy initially, but still friendly and she warms up with a gentle hello. This girl is pure sugar. She loves to explore and I could tell she enjoyed every moment on our hike. Bellah is still discovering and figuring out her new situation, but she is taking it all in stride. Bellah has a baby face that I don't think she will ever grow out of. She is loving and happy."

• All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
• We do not do same-day adoptions; we ask that you return for a follow-up visit before taking an animal home.
• You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF.
• We require a 4-foot-tall physical fence for homes with children under the age of 11. We also may require a physical fence for specific dogs on a case-by-case basis, depending on each dog’s behavior and exercise needs.
• Invisible fences: Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we cannot adopt to homes with invisible fences unless otherwise noted in a dog’s profile.
• We do request vet and personal references.
• We can facilitate adoptions within a 75-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.

Please visit www.STAF.org for visiting hours, a downloadable application, and additional information.
