Bella German Shepherd Dog New Rochelle, NY

Bella is a very smart and affectionate dog. She is highly trainable. Bella already knows sit, lay down, down (if she's jumping on something), etc. She has no food aggression. We hand fed her the first couple of days and when we bowl fed her she let us take her bowl mid eating with no issue. We taught her to sit and wait until being told she can go get her dinner that's in her bowl. We don't recommend giving her bones. She is a bone guarder. Bella does well on a leash but she is strong and can get very excited when she sees other animals. She does well sleeping in her crate (but she likes the TV on low). If someone continues with her training, she has a lot of potential. Her only issue is that she doesn't appear to do well with children. She can be aggressive towards them. Ours kids are 9 and 11, so they are not jumping, pulling or doing things that would annoy a dog. Our best guess is that she is trying to assert her position over them. She acts very differently towards them than she does with my wife and me. She absolutely needs someone who can be firm and set boundaries but also can give her the affection she needs.
