Bella's owners were unable to keep her so she was surrendered to a rescue in LA. She has made the long trip to Calgary to find her forever home. She is good with other small dogs but really loves to be with her favorite human the most. She is typical of a small dog that loves to snuggle under the covers and stay close to you through the night. Because of her small size we are looking for a home with no small children or large dogs where she can feel secure and be loved.
From the foster in Calgary:
Bella is a very sweet little Chihuahua (7.7 lb, weighed at vet’s office). She took a couple of days to warm up to an older Chi-cross foster brother. When she's not napping, her tail wags constantly.
Once settled in her foster home she has gained more self-confidence. Once her harness & leash is on her, she waits by the front door. If she becomes uncomfortable for any reason, she’ll sit at her foster mom’s feet and “ask” to be picked up. She loves to snuggle with her foster mom, and loves blankets. Bella can become protective of her human so she needs a confident owner that can let her be a dog and not a protector. She seems to have no interest in toys.
She can easily jump up and down from a couch. Usually pretty quiet, but barks at the neighbour across the driveway, and at a squirrel in the back yard. Loves basking in the sun on the deck. She was polite to a couple of other small dogs that she met on a walk, but didn’t seem to have much interest in them so she can go into an home where she is the only other dog or a home with another dog that is looking only for companionship.
