Bella Chow Chow & West Highland White Terrier / Westie Mix Monterey, VA
- Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered, special needs.
- Prefers a home without
- Other dogs, children.
Bella is totally blind and not a bit concerned about it. Her tail is always up and wagging. She is cheerful, flexible, and has self-confidence in spades. She happily spends her day exploring and napping. Her hearing is excellent and aides her in locating her people when they call her. Her nose is superb, so she knows exactly where the refrigerator is. People and food, those are the two requirements in Bella's life. Bella does not like other dogs, so she must be the only dog in the home. She does not like being bumped into or brushed up against when she is resting, so young children are not an option. She is cranky if disturbed when she is not expecting it. On the other hand, if you announce your presence, for example by saying "Hi Bella!" she looks up cheerfully and is happy to have company. She loves to be handled but not hugged. This could be scratching her back, rubbing her belly, brushing her hair, massaging her ears, etc. She shows her happiness at "seeing you" by doing little play bows. Bella asks for no luxuries. She prefers to sleep on the floor, but in the morning you will find her in her bed. Bella paces, so an uncluttered section of the house is best for her. We love our Bella but she is currently living in a senior home with eleven other dogs. She desperately wants her own home. She is healthy with the exception of an occasional skin issue with hot spots. She is unaware that she has these spots, so there is no licking or scratching. Antibiotics takes care of any skin issues, this is not usually more than once a year. Bella hates to take pills.
Bella LOVES car rides and likes to stick her nose out the window. She is a good traveler and shopping companion. She loves to meet people, if you take her into pet-friendly stores.
Bella is willful and independent. She wants to be the boss and let you know what she wants. She will let you know when she wants to be left alone. She is not a clingy dog or a velcro dog. She prefers to be in the presence of her human, but not in her human's lap or arms!Adoption fees are $200 unless otherwise stated. Senior residents of Dot's Old Dogs Home are generally not available for adoption. 100% of adoption fees are put back into the rescue so that another lonely and neglected chained/penned dog or yard-sale dog can be rescued. We are grateful for your interest.
Upon approval, the adoption fee is non-refundable. The fee includes the following: de-worming; grooming (if applicable); heartworm, lymes, ehrlichia and anaplasmosis testing; all vaccinations including rabies; flea and tick treatment, microchipping and spay/neuter.
