Reasons you will love Beau:
He’s about 8 years old, so no need to worry about puppy energy.
He’s almost completely house trained.
He doesn’t destroy anything.
He likes to be clean and re-arranges his crate blankets to suit his fancy. (so cute!)
He doesn’t mind being held or carried on his back like a baby.
He has not barked at all in his foster home.
He runs up to sit on his foster Mom’s lap for a moment, but then likes to go and lay on his own bed.
He LOVES being outside, but he enjoys the comforts of home too.
His markings and little “trot” make him look like a baby arctic fox.
He likes going for walks and if he gets tired, you can just scoop him up because he’s only 8 lbs.
He loves to be petted and loved once you earn his trust.

Beau came from a home that was overrun with 55 other small dogs in deplorable conditions. When he came into the rescue, our vet discovered that he had dental disease, the 3 teeth he had left were all loose, and therefore had to be removed. So the bummer is, he is toothless. For this reason, Beau’s tongue hangs out of his mouth when he’s very relaxed and it’s actually pretty adorable! Due to the dental disease, he has 2 oral fistulas that will need to be surgically closed. Despite this, he has become quite adept at eating small kibble with simple modifications and drinks water like a champ. He is a favorite in the vet office and they all commented that he “does not act like a typical chihuahua at all!”

Beau will do best in a house with no small children. He likes other small dogs and does not chase (or pay attention to) the cat in his foster home. His new family will need to be patient and gentle with him as they earn his trust. His foster Mom earned his trust within a few days by holding him, petting him often, and letting him be when he wanted to just sit in his crate. He hasn’t made any noise and he’s not demanding. Beau has been doing GREAT with house training and his success will continue by keeping his routine with potty time.

Beau is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and ready for his forever home!
