Bear in PA's Story
Fostered in Hellertown, PA. Bear is an intelligent, handsome 2-year-old neutered male Bouvier des Flandres with cropped ears and a docked tail. He knows all the basic commands, except for heel. This sweet boy has a lot of energy and a strong prey drive so a fenced yard is an absolute must and cats are out of the question. He is best suited as being the only animal in the home. Bear needs someone that can manage his strength and the ability to socialize him. His new owner cannot be a novice with the breed but should have experience training Bouviers, or willing to take him to professional behavior/reactive training specialist – this will be a requirement. He loves to go on daily walks but can easily be distracted by the outside world – he will take you for a run, so teaching to heel will be important, especially for your shoulders. Raised during the COVID pandemic, he did not have an opportunity for proper socialization and spent time with only his immediate family. He is reactive to some strangers or anyone that takes him by surprise coming on too quickly. He has a very loud voice - and knows how to use it to get your attention. He is fearful of steps and will not go up to a second floor. Requirements: Adults only – no small children – no other animals in the home – fenced yard. He loves to play, explore, chew bones, and watch TV. He is an absolute love but needs a home where he can be the king of his castle. Bear is being fostered in Hellertown, PA. To be considered please fill out an on-line adoption application at www.abrl.org. Potential adopters living in eastern Pennsylvania or New Jersey preferred. Prior Bouvier experience is a must! He needs someone that understands him and knows his abilities. For more information, contact Susan at PAcoord@abrl.org
