Meet Bear in GA - Will Love You Furever!

This big, adorable ball of fluff is Bear, an unfortunate victim of the COVID-19 pandemic. He lost both his people to the virus and is now looking for another furever family for him to love and protect. Despite being a senior dog, Bear does not act like it! He is a good protector at any sign of visitors, Bear does not hesitate to sound the alarm. He has excellent house manners, is housetrained and crate trained. He gets along with other dogs, male and female. He hasn't been tested with cats, and he will react to livestock. Bear is a very respectful gentleman, and he expects (and deserves) to be treated with respect as well. He would do well with an experienced handler who knows the breed, who is well-versed in dog language, and one who will ensure Bear has adequate amount of exercise to keep him healthy as he enjoys his golden years. An adult-only home would be best, or one with older, mature kids that have experience with Pyrs. Although Bear is not your typical run-up-and-hug type of Pyr, he is a sweet, well-mannered boy who shows his affection by staring at you intently, and being a good protector. If you are willing to open your home and your heart to Bear, he will love you to the moon and back!

Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted.

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.

Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
