Meet Bear

This sweet buddy is Bear. He is a 48 pound scruffy Terrier mix estimated to be about two years old. Bear has salt and pepper fur, big floppy ears and the most gentle soul. We really love this guy and want the very best for him.

Bear has had a tough life. He and his siblings were abandoned in a rural area and lived for almost two years outdoors on their own. Neighbors would occasionally feed them and allow them to sleep under their porches but nobody really took responsibility for the dogs and they suffered greatly for it. Over the months, many of the dogs were hit by cars and others simply disappeared. After nearly two years of neglect , a group of animal rescuers banded together to save the eight dogs who were left. Bear is one of those dogs.

On the day he came to us Bear got his first car ride, first collar/leash, and first ever bath. He was too scared to even cross the threshold of the doorway to walk inside and had to be carried. Now two weeks later, he is absolutely loving the indoor pet life. He loves air conditioning and napping on the sofa. Bear is doing great with house-training, crate-training and learning how to walk on a leash. He is such a mellow guy and he looks at you with pure love and devotion. Bear is nervous when meeting new dogs but after a slow introduction he gets along fine with both large and small dogs. His Terrier DNA makes him want to chase small fuzzy things so he is not good with cats or little creatures. Bear has been polite and well-mannered with humans of all ages so we believe he could do well in a home with kids.

Bear is fully vetted -- neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and current on vaccinations and deworming. The adoption fee is $300. We accept payment in the form of cash, CashApp and Zelle. You can apply to adopt at www.SOHFGA.com.
