Meet Bear
VISIT LEIASHOPE.ORG FOR OUR ADOPTION PROCESS.
Requirements:
Young playful dog/kids
Vetting requirements (see our website)
Bear is a young miniature Schnauzer puppy (DOB 1/12/23). He was cosigned to a breeder auction and his freedom was secured by Leia's Hope.
Bear is an outgoing and friendly little guy! He has the Schnauzer attitude and has an opinion about many things! He loves to play with other dogs and toys and even though he is tiny he is mighty!
Bear also enjoys snuggles and told what a handsome and special boy he is! Schnauzers are an active and friendly breed and socialization and physical and mental activities are a necessity to keep this boy out of trouble!
Bear is being treated for Coccidia (parasite infection). This is common with dogs coming out of a puppy mill. He will go home with any remaining meds if he's adopted prior to completion.
Bear's adoption fee is $415. He has received his age appropriate vaccines (subsequent vaccines are at the adopters expense), he is microchipped, and been dewormed. Bear is too young to receive his neuter. A neuter contract will be enforced. The neuter is covered by Leia's Hope if using our vet partner. Visit leiashope.org for our process and the application to adopt!
WE DO ADOPT OUT OF THE AREA, HOWEVER, WE DO NOT SHIP NOR ARRANGE TRANSPORTS. YOU WILL HAVE TO COME TO DECATUR, IL TO MEET THE DOG. IF FLYING, DOGS MUST FLY IN THE CABIN AND THE EXPENSE OF THE HEALTH CERTIFICATE IS ON THE ADOPTER.
THE APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED BEFORE WE CAN START THE PROCESS.
IT CAN TAKE AT LEAST 7 DAYS TO PROCESS AN APPLICATION SOMETIMES LONGER DEPENDING ON VOLUNTEER AVAILABILITY AND NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED SO PLEASE BE PATIENT AS WE ARE VOLUNTEERS WITH FAMILIES AND FULL TIME JOBS AND DOGS OF OUR OWN TO CARE FOR.
IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 9 MONTHS): YOU MUST HAVE A FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULE OR SOMEONE HOME ALL DAY. PUPPIES NEED TO BE LET OUT TO POTTY OFTEN, THEY NEED SOCIALIZATION AND BONDING AND NEED TRAINING (HOUSETRAINING AND BEHAVIORAL TRAINING). IF YOU WORK LONG HOURS, HAVE A BUSY SOCIAL SCHEDULE OR NOT FINANCIALLY SECURE THEN A PUPPY IS NOT FOR YOU. PUPPIES ARE A 15 YEAR COMMITTMENT, IF YOU CAN'T COMMIT TO THAT TIME FRAME THEN CONSIDER AN OLDER DOG.
