Meet Bear

Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

My name is Bear and I am a 7 year old neutered male Terrier mix who was found as a stray in Monroe. My foster family says that I am a sweet boy who just wants a quiet family to love on me. I can be a little spunky and play with toys, but I what I really love is snuggling with my foster mom. I get along with small, low energy, passive dogs (if already living there when I move in) and enjoy living with two small foster sisters in my foster home, however, I get really nervous and don't like it at all when new dogs come into my home or when I meet them on walks. I tend to bark and lunge on walks when other dogs pass. I have met cats in my foster home, and I am good with them, but will sometimes chase them a bit if they go scampering in front of me. I just think its a game. So, I'm looking for a quiet home without a lot of commotion, no small kids under 6 years of age, a fenced yard is ideal for me, with a family who doesn't intend on bringing new pets into the home. I want to soak up all of the love and am looking for a family who likes to spend time in the house, in their fenced yard on a deck perhaps soaking in the sunshine and enjoying each others company.

I was heartworm positive, but the kind folks at NBS Animal Rescue are covered 100% of my heartworm treatment, and I am now heartworm free! My only "health" issue now is that I eat and drink fast, and I tend to vomit randomly afterwards. We've tried a few meds and a slow feeder, but it hasn't fixed the issue. My foster Mom just does a quick wipe up of the tile or floor when I have and oopsie. She would love to talk with you more about me and answer any questions you might have about my wonderful self. Give my foster mom a call - she loves to tell people how sweet and loving I am!

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods.
- Children must be 6yrs or older.
- Prefer home without new or visiting pets.
- 100% fenced in yard preferred.

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
