Meet Baymax

Baymax is ready to share his story! ?

I am a people pleaser. I want to make my people smile, I want to lean on them, and I want to be part of their family in every way possible. So, when I ended up abandoned I was very confused. Given my personality and antics, it seems like I grew up as an outdoor dog. And one that didn't get much attention at all. I was skinny, but I remember having a family and always begging for their attention. Then, I suddenly found myself in the shelter. With every person that walked by, I begged that they would choose me. I would give them puppy dog eyes, I would stand on my hind legs and lean my head against the door, and I would try to get them to look into my eyes. However, they always ended up walking away. I spent THREE WEEKS in the shelter and had next to no interest in me.

There is a hopeless feeling that comes in a situation like that. You are trying everything you can to get out of the shelter, and without someone saying yes to you...you will never leave. One day I had some nice ladies stop at my kennel. Instead of quickly glancing at me and walking away, they stayed and pet me through the bars. I feel like they heard my plea. My plea to finally be out of the shelter and with people again. Before I knew it, I was leaving the shelter. Turns out they welcomed me into their fluffy butt family, and I would be staying with them until I found my forever family!
I am now in a loving foster home, get to be an inside dog, and am SO READY to find my FOREVER people!

My name is Baymax and I am a 2-year-old male Great Pyrenees mix! I believe that I am mixed with Yellow Lab, or maybe even some Golden Retriever? Whatever my mix, it gave me more of an athletic build and some looong legs! I currently weigh about 90lbs, but am on the thinner side.

I need...no I deserve an absolutely amazing family! I want to make sure I do this right so I have compiled a list of questions that I think you might have about me!

-How can someone adopt me?
The first step is to fill out an adoption app for me at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app
Once this app comes in, it will get sent on to my foster family and they will help me decide if we are a match or not.

-Where are you being fostered? Do I need to pick you up? Can I adopt you even if I don't live in Oklahoma?
I am being fostered in Kiowa, OK. Yes, you would need to pick me up. This rescue does not send us on transports. It is less stress on us that way. Plus, you and I can already start bonding on the road trip home! ? Yes, I am okay moving to a new state,

-Do I do well with strangers?
I am very friendly. I have no problem walking right up to them and leaning on them so they can give me good pets!

-Do you enjoy going places?
I have not been anywhere except the vet. I was very friendly with the other people I met there and just wanted to be loved on!

-Do you enjoy walks?
Since my foster has a fully fenced-in yard, I have not been on any walks. During my vet trips, I seemed to do well on a leash.

-Do you like road trips?
I have only been in the car once and that was on my way to the foster home. I am nervous to get in the car. However, once I am in I plop down and ride great.

-Can I trust you to free-roam the house, even if I am away?
You sure can! When my fosters are away I have free-roam of the house and do well. I am also left with free-roam at night. With that said, I have other dogs with e for companionship. I am unsure how I would do with free-roam if I were an only dog.

-Are you potty trained? What about kennel trained?
Yes, I am potty trained. As far as the kennel goes, my foster does not kennel. I am a pretty big boy, so it would be awesome if my new family didn't kennel me either.

-What do you like to do for fun?
I LOVE my people! I want to be wherever they are! I have not shown much interest in wanting to play with the other dogs or toys. My fosters feel that this will change as I settle in and start to feel more comfortable. I am unsure if I am a water dog or not.

-Would you do okay living in an apartment?
Yes, I believe so. I am not necessarily an energetic dog, but I am wherever you are. I love to lean into you and want to be involved in everything you are doing! A good exercise plan with walks, hikes, and trips to the dog park would be awesome! I am not a dog that could handle being left all alone, all day long with little stimulation.

-Are you good with dogs? What about cats? Can I trust you with my kids?

I am good with other dogs. Currently, I am indifferent to them. Given my age and personality, I do believe I will start playing with them once I settle in. I was VERY attention-starved when I came to rescue, so am soaking up all the human love. I am good with cats and don't pay them much attention. I am not being fostered around any kids. I do believe I would be AMAZING with kids 8+ years. I can totally see myself being their best friend and following them all around. Since I am a big boy and like to lean into you, I would probably be a little too much "dog" for younger kids.

-Is there anything else that I need to know about you? Any quirks?
I have not shown any signs of food aggression. I have also not shown to have any issues with resource guarding. I don't jump on people. However, I will wiggle around you and try to lean into you.

-Can I hear what your foster has to say about you?
"Baymax is one of the most lovable goofballs we have ever had the pleasure to foster. This boy loves his people so much. He was so attention-starved when he first came to us, we believe he was probably in someone's backyard and they never really did anything with him. He did need to learn some manners in the house, but he has adjusted amazingly and is almost perfect now. He acts like a total puppy still and may even be younger than 2 years. Baymax is super sweet, but he has no concept of personal space. He will wiggle around you and try to lean on you, oftentimes he ends up stepping on your feet. Yet when he looks up at you with the happiest grin around you cannot help but melt! Baymax is good with all other animals, and is going to make someone an amazing companion!"

Phew! That took longer than I thought! Hopefully, all your questions about me were answered though! Before you apply to adopt me I have a few last things that I would like to discuss!

~ My ideal family would be pretty much any home environment. I adjust fairly quickly and as long as I have people giving me love and attention, I am one happy pup! I have not shown to have any type of aggression to anything or anyone. My new family would give me lots and lots of attention and be home most of the day. I would be okay in a home with other dogs or being the only dog. ~

If you fit most of the above, then fill out that app and bring me home! Because I am ready! ?

*My adoption fee is $225. That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. I will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
