Barry Shih Tzu Mix Palatine, IL

With his unique coloring and teddy-bear-like fur, sweet little Barry is hard to resist. This 17 pound Shih Tzu mix came to us from animal control, and boy, are we happy to have this little ray of sunshine.

Welcoming to visitors, sweet with kids, and playful with the resident dogs, Barry is friendly to all. He loooooves to be scratched and will snuggle with you until your heart is content. Barry’s favorite spots in the home alternate throughout the day: he enjoys napping on the couch when his foster mom is home but will happily sleep in the crate at night and during the day when his people are gone. This curious 2 year old also enjoys wandering around the yard, going on walks, and riding in the backseat of the car. 

Barry’s foster mom comments that he is a great listener and an intelligent little guy. As mentioned previously, Barry is perfectly crate-trained, and almost fully house-trained (currently kept on a regular schedule). Though he can be a bit picky with his food — he prefers moist/wet food with his dry food — he always takes his food gently and never chews on anything that isn’t his. Barry only barks when appropriate and has never shown any signs of fear or aggression. Smart and always aiming to please his people, Barry has shown himself to be an easy and trustworthy companion.
