Barney Labrador Retriever & Terrier Mix Mokena, IL

Hi friends! I am Barney! I have been waiting here at NAWS to find a new home and I am hoping it will be soon! I was adopted last summer, but sadly my owner experienced medical problems and could no longer care for me. I promise I am a good boy and will be an awesome friend.

I love to be near people and will snuggle with you. I've been at naws a long time so I can be shy meeting new people but my tail is always wagging. I like to play, but I am not overly energetic. Generally I am a really chill guy! I am a little overweight at the moment, but lots of walks would help! If you have toys for me, that will make me very happy! The nice people at NAWS say I am smart and I always try to listen to their commands. I am also very clean/house trained. I like car rides and am well-behaved when going on outings. If you have other dogs, I would need a slow introduction to them - I can sometimes be a little selective on the ones I like.

The NAWS Dog Adoption Program operates as a rescue versus a shelter. We believe in matching the right dog with the appropriate family based on each specific dog or family's needs. To achieve this, we believe in spending the appropriate amount of time with each family to allow for enough interaction time with potential adopters. This cannot be achieved if people stop by unexpectedly to meet our dogs.
