Meet Barley
Are you looking for an energetic companion to keep you on your toes? Look no farther than Barley, a quick-witted heeler/cattle dog. If you are familiar with heelers, you know that they are hardworking dogs who are always looking about for a job to do. No task is too small, which is a good thing because that is how they expend their tremendous energy!
Barley has lived up to his breed’s characteristics. He mastered our A-frame agility course quick as lightning and had a lot of fun doing so! He is working on minding his leash manners but aims to please. With a little more practice, we think Barley would make a great partner for outdoor activities like running and hiking.
Barley has attended daycare at Off the Beaten Trail, a daycare/boarding/training facility in Newark, Vermont. There, he was part of the pack! He loved socializing and playing with the other dogs. He has since made a canine friend here at the shelter. Proper introductions are necessary with Barley and other dogs, but when this is done, he does very well.
Barley is on a special diet for gastrointestinal issues. He will have to remain on this diet but other than that he is good to go. As with all of our animals, we highly recommend that he go to a vet for regular wellness visits. We think our guy would make a fantastic companion for an active person or family. While it isn’t a pre-requisite, we are hoping to find a forever home with people who are familiar with heeler/cattle dogs to make sure Barley is an ideal fit and vice versa. Contact us today to meet this wonderful pup!
