Meet Barley

Dear Santa Paws….. My name is Barley and I am a 3 year old Bluetick Coonhound that is a sweet and affectionate charmer that would love to be snoozing by the fireplace and Christmas tree. My friends at the shelter say my droopy-eared charm and pleading expression is irresistible. I know I crave affection and can become deeply devoted to those who provide it. Some of my friends here at the shelter say I have a “prey drive” and that I love “squirrels” but after my exercise needs are met with a long walk or the opportunity to run I appreciate soft furniture, the fire place and/or air conditioning just as much as anyone else. I know I love everyone and sometimes pine without human companionship. I’ll make a great hiking companion if you let me follow a trail now and then. I might even enjoy getting involved in tracking or search and rescue. I know I need some training and positive reinforcement, especially food rewards, to help me calm down when I get excited about finding a good scent.

I am current on my shots, microchipped and have been neutered.
