MEET BARBIE!

This beautiful girl is named Barbie! This ~10 year old Shepherd mix was surrendered to Philly's animal control shelter because she was having some health issues that her former family couldn't address. Luckily, they were easy fixes with basic vet care and she is feeling great! Barbie is going to make one lucky family out there very happy - read on!

Barbie has been a joy since coming to the rescue. She's incredibly sweet, loves to cuddle and despite being a senior, has great energy and loves a good romp in the yard or walk around the neighborhood, but is also happy to chill out and lie around. Barbie also loves a good car ride, knows her basic commands, plays gently with her toys and will drop them when you ask! She's housebroken, crate trained and has no accidents in her foster home. Barbie loves to watch birds and squirrels and isn't much of a barker. She's currently living with other dogs in her foster home! She's playful, happy to share her space with them, and quick to try to make new friends with them which some dogs might not appreciate. She lived with a cat and kids in her previous home and has had positive interactions with them since coming to the rescue. She'd likely do well in a home with other pets who don't mind a larger pup who may want to play!

Barbie has been fully vetted since coming to the rescue. The stomach issues and weightloss reported by her former family was caused by a GI parasite and she has since been dewormed. Barbie also received a dental cleaning! She's healthy and ready to land her dream home.

Barbie is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is also heartworm and lymes disease negative. Interested in adopting her?
