Hi there! I’m Banjo! I’m a sweet pup that’s starting a new chapter in life and hoping it’s with you!

My foster family thought it would be helpful to share some information about me!

Banjo is really mellow and friendly. When we first picked him up, he was quite timid. Once we got him home, he was so happy to be able to run loose in the yard and interact with our dogs. Loves people, and is happy to be picked up and held in your lap, but he doesn't need constant reassurance - he's happy to lie in a dog bed or on the couch on his own. He does like to follow people around but doesn't get anxious or whiny.

He isn't mouthy, jumpy, or barky. He was a little bit timid at first when entering doorways or exiting his crate, but he has mostly put that behind him and is gaining confidence every day.

Banjo's social interactions with our three big dogs have been fantastic, and he enjoys playing with them from time to time throughout the day but gives them plenty of space otherwise. He definitely observes them and is learning from them.

Housetraining: Again, excellent. No accidents in the house, and he seems to have very good control of his bladder. Oftentimes potties within a minute or two of being let outside, so he definitely seems to understand the concept, even being in a totally new environment.

Crate Training: Excellent. Sleeps soundly through the entire night. Occasionally does some light whining for a few minutes, depending on how tired he is, but that's it. Since his bladder control is so good, he's happy to sleep until we're all ready to get up. We put him in the crate for about an hour once or twice throughout the day, as well.

Leash walking: Banjo seemed to have little to no experience with leashes, and he did the typical "digging in" when encouraged to walk with one. But last night we were able to coax him into following the other dogs on a short walk, and he really enjoyed himself once he got going. I have no doubt he'll be fine with this, given some time and training.

Other training: I love Banjo's name, so I use it frequently, and he seems to respond pretty well to it, and will come when called. He doesn't seem to have any other training, so this will require some work, but I don't think this will be a problem, since he is pretty smart. I was able to get him to sit for a treat today, and he's obviously food motivated, so I anticipate that he will learn quickly.

Destruction Factor: Very low! Banjo is a gentle dog who loves to chew on a variety of dog toys. He very seldom goes for something that isn't a dog toy, and then he gives it a gentle, experimental nibble. He stops immediately when asked, and is happy to chew on whatever substitution he receives.

I sound pretty awesome, right?

I’m around 4.5 months old and 35-40 lbs.

I would prefer a home with another furry friend already in the house and older children!

Because I'm still a puppy, I'll need time and patience to learn all the things I need to know like how to walk on a leash, sit, wait, housetraining, and maybe even some really cool tricks! I promise to pay attention when it's time to learn all these things and will be extra attentive for some treats!

If you're looking for a sweet pup to share your life with, please contact Mary's Dogs and ask for me, Banjo!
