Meet Banjo

Banjo is a one year old German Shepherd mix. We got him from a lady who adopted him as a puppy and could not handle his energy, so she put him in a crate for 23 1/2 hours a day. Needless to say, that was not good for Banjo.

Since coming to us and having free reign to play, he is a much happier boy. Banjo is a typical shepherd, super intelligent, energetic, and mouthy. We are working on the drop it and leave it commands with him, and he is very eager to please and quick to learn. He is highly affectionate and will bond hard with his family. He is good with dogs and is very playful. He will need an active adopter with Shepherd experience, a fenced yard and a firm commitment to training. No young kids because he is big and bouncy, but sturdy kids over 10 should be fine. Sullen teenagers would be even better.

Banjo is good with dogs who want to play and can take his energy level. This is not a lazy basset companion. He is absolutely no cat or small woodland creatures as he is high play prey driven.

Do not apply for this dog if you don't have a fenced yard or a deep commitment to proper exercise and stimulation. Active, smart dogs who don't have what they need become bored dogs who do home renovation projects you might not have considered. This dog lives to please people and he will make someone a fantastic pet.
