Hello everyone, my name is Bane. I'm originally from Kansas City, MO. I was found as a stray, and I was in pretty rough shape when I was brought to the KC Pet Project Shelter. The nice doctors there treated me and got me up to date on my shots. They discovered that I was heartworm positive, and started me on a treatment plan right away. I had also been shot by some jerks with a BB gun, and the doctors were able to remove those pellets from my leg and get me cleaned up! I was glad to be in a place where I was fed and cared for. Later on, my foster mom decided that I would do better in her house near Chicago, IL so I was placed on a transport and away I went!
I came to Chicago and got acquainted with my new brother Barnabas and my new Rottie sister Penelope. When my foster mom first brought me home, she noticed that I seemed a little untrusting and scared of my new environment. She took me for walks, and gave me lots of treats, love and food to get me healthy. She says I can be a little aloof and very stubborn sometimes, but she also says that I am a great guard dog who is very alert and intelligent. I learned how to sit pretty quickly because I wanted to show that I am capable of listening to her commands. I am protective of my new home and my doggie brother and sister, and although I have tried to get out and explore the neighborhood on my own, my mom makes sure I stay close to her.
In my furever home, I am hoping that I will be the only pup in the household since I don't really like to share my human's attention with the other dogs. I also do not like to share my toys or my food, because I remember my days as a stray and how I had to hoard stuff to feel secure. I am a big boy, weighing in at around 85lbs. now, and I have a very powerful bark. My mom's neighbors say I'm intimidating, but I'm just a sweet Rottie looking for cuddles underneath it all. My furever home should be fenced, since I do enjoy wandering off in search of sticks and other backyard things to play with. My next family should know that I also do not enjoy going in my crate initially, but, once I'm in, I will usually nap and/or check out my surroundings. I have a lot of love and protection to give to someone who is invested in my training and development!
