Bandit (female) American Bulldog & Labrador Retriever Mix Shady Hills, FL

To meet sweet Ms Bandit is to fall in love immediately. She has such a gentle nature about her and you almost feel like you have known her forever. Bandit enjoys nothing more than sitting at your feet and covering your face with kisses.

At 4 years old she finds herself all alone at the shelter, having been surrendered because her previous owner had medical issues and could no longer care for her.

It is pretty apparent from her portly frame that she was fed well in her previous home. But she has a playful nature and we are certain that with an active family that wants to have her join in the action she will be able to lose those few extra pounds in no time.

Those of us that volunteer at the shelter have fallen head over heals for Ms Bandit. She loves nothing more than being massaged, or pet in any manner for that matter. She loves everyone she meets, there is no stranger in her world.

Her coloring is very unique, reminding us of what you might see on an American Bulldog....white with patches of dark brown and tan brindle. She knows some basic commands and is very treat motivated so we are certain she would be a quick learner.

Bandit is amazing on a leash. She usually doesn't pull a bit, in fact you sometimes have to guide her along as she just loves to investigate all the world has to offer. But we will note that she pulled hard to see the horses next door. But a Gentle Leader Easy Walk Harness (latches in the front) will do the trick for that. She enjoys tossing her squeaky toys in the air and chasing them....it is so cute to watch!

Given her mild nature she would likely fit in any family. Her previous owner said she would do best at the only dog in her new home. We have tested Bandit with the stray cats in our shelter and she seems fine so she likely could be placed with a dog savvy cat.

We are open for adoptions Thursday - Saturday from 12-4pm (excluding holidays). Adoptions are on a first come, first serve basis. Adoption fee is $100 (cash or check only, NO credit cards). Meet and greets with kids and other dogs are required.
