BAMBINO Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix Haw River, NC

Handsome Bambino came to us as a stray in mid June and has been a great BAS resident. He's only around a year old and is a happy boy (especially when a pool is involved!). Hes curious and playful when he wants to be but also loves to snuggle on the couch, takes naps, and train with treats. He likes to bring his toys on walks for comfort. Hes a great walker and follows a routine quickly, and he's good with car rides. Bambino is house trained. He goes in the backyard at 6am when we wake up, goes for a 15 minute walk at 6:45, is crated, and then goes for another 15 minute walk in the evening, from evening until bed time he will drink water and eat and go in the backyard periodically. We are training to walk beside me, but he doesnt pull (just has a habit to walk in front). He isnt left unsupervised for too long, but when he is, he just sleeps on the couch and looks out of the windows or plays with his toys. Commands we're working on: Down means get in the crate. Good! Stay means stop moving. Very good! Come and look at me means walk beside me/pay attention. Good but working on improving this. He has no negative behaviors!! Dog Day Out note, 10/7/23: Well, Bambino certainly knocks it outta the park being a great adventure buddy, eager to explore in the trails and a great car rider! He seemed to really enjoy our walk in the trails and moves at a good pace while still taking the time to smell the roses and stop and look around to take it all in. He's a good mix of quiet and independent but still social and will play around with you and get on his back for a belly rub! Overall a really easy dog to take for a day and sure to make his future adopter a great companion. He's housetrained, enjoyed meeting new people, loving and affectionate, and good on leash. He was a little shy at first but really came out of his shell by the end of the day.
