BamBam is 8 pounds of cute Maltese boy. It is hard to know exactly how old he is. He was very sick when he came into rescue and estimated to be ten or a bit older. He was dropped off at the animal shelter by his family who did not want an old sick dog. Because he was so sick, the shelter immediately released him to the rescue. Our vet questioned if we could treat him, his bloodwork & liver panel was “off the charts.” After a course of antibiotics, the recheck after 30 days, all the values were not only improved, they were all within the normal range . No one was shocked more than the doctors who cared for him.
BamBam had his right eye removed, it was damaged and medical care was not going to make it o.k, According to the eye specialist, vision in the other eye is nil. This is the result of genetics, or an old injury and/or infection that were not treated. He manages without difficulty in his foster home. He is comfortable and his condition is stable. He does require drops in his remaining eye to help manage pressure and for comfort.
Dr Shrifin feels he is adoptable and if at any time the condition in this eye becomes an issue, enucleation can always be performed.

BamBam is neutered, microchipped, current on all vaccinations and heartworm negative and on a preventative. Bam had his teeth cleaned recently.

BamBam will do best in a home with 1 adult or a couple without children. He likes to be the center of attention, he loves treats and will dance for them. Bam will let you know when he is displeased with a strange little growl that sounds like a cat hissing. He takes time to warm up to people. We want to make his transition easy and his foster would like to have two or three meets so that BB will not be stressed by the move.

BamBam likes walks and playing at the Dog Depot. He has a little quirk. Bam will not walk down the hall alone. If he realizes he is not in the room with a person, he will bark until said human comes to rescue him. He will sleep in a crate but he prefers snuggling with his foster dad in the big bed.

BamBam was described as a “train wreck” when he entered recue. He is healthy now and being adopted by someone who loves him for the tough little survivor he is. Lil Paws saved his life, but it should not be his forever home. After a rough life where he was medically neglected he wants to live out his remaining years with his special person/s . Our job now is to place him where he will be treated like the little prince he already knows he is. BamBam is looking for a forever lap.

** Please note: Due to their size, our dogs are not suitable for homes with children under 5..

We do not have a facility, all dogs are fostered in the homes of our volunteers. If you are interested in adopting a dog from Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws, please visit our website at www.lilpaws.org and fill out an adoption application. This is the first step in our adoption process. Our goal is to place our dogs in safe, stable and loving homes in the Austin Metropolitan area. Thanks for looking!

Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws depends on donations to keep the dogs in our program healthy. Many health issues are taken care of before a dog leaves a rescue: spaying, neutering, immunizations, dental care, and in some cases major surgery. Because of the cost of this care, donations are essential to enable us to continue our work. If you would like to show appreciation for what we do and help us continue to do it please go to our website homepage and click the donate button. We thank you in advance for your support.
