Bailey! Friendly, Resilient Boy! German Shepherd Dog Meriden, CT

***CONSIDERABLE GERMAN SHEPHERD AND/OR OTHER WORKING BREED EXPERIENCE REQUIRED***

Meet Bailey, our happy and spunky senior GSD boy! Bailey is approximately between 7-8 years old, but he is still full of energy! Bailey was originally surrendered to our facility in very poor condition. He was missing most of the fur on his body, and he was severely emaciated. After bringing Bailey to the vet, it was determined his condition was from extreme malnourishment and a severe flea infestation. He has since been treated for the fleas and has been eating very well. In the short time he was with us, Bailey gained a ton of weight from regular feeding and some of his hair did grow back.
He was adopted from our shelter into a great home for a couple months. Unfortunately, for no fault of his own, Bailey was returned to our shelter.

Despite what Bailey has gone through, he is still a very loving and friendly dog! Bailey loves getting attention from people! Bailey is very food motivated and loves treats. He can be grabby with treats as he was underfed for so long. Bailey seems to be fine with other dogs, but he is not a fan of cats.

We are requiring potential adopters to have CONSIDERABLE EXPERIENCE with German Shepherd, and/or other working breeds, to adopt Bailey. He does seem to listen better to men than women. Bailey can be adopted into a home with another dog pending a meet and greet. He can go to a home with older children, preferably 13 years old or older. He is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. Although some of his hair has grown back, Bailey does have Alopecia, and will most likely not grow anymore hair on his body in the spots where he is already bald.

You must be 21 years of age to adopt with valid ID. There is a short application for adoption, however if you do not own your home, or you own a condo, we must speak with your landlord or housing association giving permission to dogs/cats. Bully breed specific permission is required if you rent or own a condo. If you own your home, proof of home ownership is required. If there are other pets in the home they must be licensed (if a dog) and up to date on vaccinations. If there is another dog in the home a dog interaction must be done at the shelter before adoption, to ensure the safety and well being of all pets. All children in the home need to be declared and brought down to meet the animal.
Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal.

ALL ANIMALS ARE SPAYED AND NEUTERED BEFORE THEY GO HOME.
