Meet Bailey

ADOPTION PENDING

Bailey is a super cute, super friendly Cockapoo (Cocker Spaniel/Poodle mix) who was surrendered when his people, who had him since he was a puppy, were moving and couldn’t take him with them.

Based on what his previous owners shared and what we've learned about Bailey from his foster family, his for his ideal forever home:

• has people who are home during the day to take him out regularly
• does not have other dogs and has people who are comfortable with his reaction to other dogs when on leash (more details below)
• is located in a quiet neighborhood (shared living spaces not ideal)
• has dog-savvy and tolerant cats (he chases but also cuddles them)
• has people who will show him lots of love be wiling to snuggle with him and will keep him on a prescription diet and not feed him people food.

If this is you, read on for more details.

Bailey is 11 years old (he will be 12 on June 22) but still has a mischievous puppy nature. He will run off with anything made of paper or happily check out the trash if given the opportunity. He walks nicely on a gentle leader and loves people, attention, and cuddling on the couch. He grew up with children and loves them.

Bailey has not lived with another dog and will bark at and pull towards them when walking on leash, so will need people who are willing to work with him and be okay with this behavior until it can be improved. His reaction is only when he's on leash (so in the near term, he wouldn't be a great walking companion for river walks and other busy public places). He has been fine with dogs he’s met at the vet, groomer, and when boarded, but believe Bailey will be happiest in a dog-free home. He has lived with a cat who he chased and also snuggled with, so if there are cats in the home, they must be dog savvy and tolerant.

Bailey had surgery for bladder stones and has since tested negative for any stones. He needs to stay on Royal Canin SO (prescription food and treats) to prevent them from returning (definitely no people food for this guy). He needs to go out on regular basis (every 3 hours or so during the day; he's fine overnight), so will need people who are home during the day. He has a few age-related warts but they do not need to be removed or treated. He will have a dental before he is adopted so his teeth will be in tip-top shape.

Bailey is about 27 pounds, neutered, up to date on shots, and housetrained (will scratch to go out). His adoption fee is $200. If your home sounds like a good fit for Bailey, please submit an adoption application on our website at http://www.baystatedogs.com/adopt.html (you can fill out the online application or complete the Word doc – whichever you prefer). Bailey is waiting for you!
