Hello, world! I want to take a minute to tell you about a distinguished gentleman looking for his fur-ever home. Please meet Azzy, the whippet mix with all the cuddles to give.
He spent most of his life with one owner who is devastated to no longer be able to keep him. Currently, he is being fostered. There's no challenge too big for the little dude as long as he is beside his designated person. Azzy will run, hike, turn into a submarine around water, climb trees, scale mountains and be your tireless companion.
He adores a good snooze in the sun, is a perfect office dog and will strut every ounce of his stuff at the dog bar or park. Smart as a whip, Azzy has an extensive vocabulary and all the chitchat to keep you informed of his true opinion. He learns lightning fast. A list of terms and words Azzy knows and their meaning to him will be provided to those interested in adopting him.
Azzy gets along with all manner of dogs and cats, except Boxers. For reasons that elude us all, he's Boxist and will absolutely pick on them if allowed.
He will need time to acclimate to his new home. Azzy does not simply give his love and loyalty away. However once he selects a person, he will go to the ends of the earth for them and can be trusted explicitly off leash. Until then, fences are but mere suggestions, and he will need to be closely monitored.
He's a great travel/camping/road trip buddy, and he loves to be active. A bored Azzy is a mischievous Azzy. No shelf is too high or trashcan off limits if tasty snacks are available, and humans aren't present. He can be quite content to snooze next to his person which also makes him ideal in office environments.
A sensitive soul, he is extremely responsive to tone, even if that tone is not directed at him. He's always eager and needs help restraining himself from trampling out the door or past you on the stairs. He requires regular reminders to 'back up' and 'wait', and he'll listen.
If you made it this far, then you should be aware: he has separation anxiety. If he is left alone, he must be crated or closed off from the rest of the house. Azzy thinks being without people is the absolute worst thing in the world. Although he has learned to grudgingly accept the crate with his foster, he will need time to adjust to being crated in a new place. Even after he adjusts, he will resolutely voice his dissatisfaction at being there. If you're interested in adopting Azzy, I'm happy to answer questions.
