Ava's Story

Ava is a super sweet girl. She is calm and quiet and young, under one year old. Ava came to our shelter as a stray and we noticed that there was something odd about her gait. After sending her to a couple of different specialists, we have learned that Ava has a rare condition that involves a buildup of calcium behind her front ankles. As you can see from her video, it does not affect her, but she does need special orthotics to be able to run and play and walk Like a normal dog. We have a wonderful Volunteer, who took her to Sterling, Virginia to bionic pets to get her fitted for her orthotics, and we have a generous donor who is paying for them. The Volunteer reports that she was super sweet at the vets, very calm and well behaved. We are still waiting for her orthotics to arrive. This is not going to affect Ava’s lifespan or her ability to run and play like a normal dog. We suppose there might be some expense involved if the orthotics ever have to be replaced. Therefore, we will list her as having special needs. Ava has been spayed, is heartworm negative, has had her shots and been micro chipped and her adoption fee will be a modest $60. If you are interested in Ava, please email
homes4all@gonetodogs.org
For more information. Please make sure you contact us before coming to the shelter to meet Ava as we do sometimes have irregular hours. This is going to be a lovely companion for any kind of family and it is going to be a joy to see her run and play with her ankle supports. We had a hard time getting Ava to pose for us, but the video shows just how beautiful she is. Lovely girl!
