Meet Aurora
My name is Aurora and I consider myself to be very fortunate. I am one of thirteen dogs lucky enough to be under the care of Appalachian Great Pyrenees Rescue after a hoarding situation.
My life is changing...for the better. I lived with about 5 dozen dogs and had very few "social skills". When I came to AGPR, it was the first time I had a collar or lived inside. Walking on a leash? Very, very scary! I had to be carried outside for the first few days for potty duty. And so many new people...oh my!
BUT, the new people have been so nice to me - bringing me food and treats and sitting and talking to me. I love my crate and am good at keeping it clean overnight. And I now go for short walks on the leash and sit with my human friends in a sunny field while they pet me and tell me how pretty I am.
I think I'm a Pyr/shepherd mix but there's no way to know for sure. There were mixes of pyrs and shepherds and maybe border collies so who knows what my heritage is! But no matter, I am a sweet girl looking for a loving family. And even though there were so many dogs around, I will need to meet any current family dog to see if we get along.
Since I had a rough start to life, I'd love a family with lots of patience who will support me while exploring family life. And since I lived in the country, I am NOT a city girl. I'd love a quiet and calm home with a nice fenced in yard to get comfortable in. I'm not quite ready to go walking in the neighborhood and meeting all the neighbors yet. Remember, I have very little "real world" experience. Cars, bikes, motorcycles, stairs, microwave beeping...all new to me. But I have a lot of love inside of me to unleash. Are you willing to adopt me and work with me?
All Great Pyrenees require a fenced-in yard (at least four foot high). If you have questions about the breed or our adoption policies and procedures, please go to our website at www.agprescue.org. There's plenty of good information about the breed on our website - Pyrs aren't a breed for everyone!
Our adoption application is online: http://agprescue.org/adoption-application/agpr-application-donations/ Please note that we are a small regional rescue organization. We will consider adopting to families within a four to five hour drive to Richmond, VA
