You know what we don't want to do? We really don't want to have Augie spend another Christmas with us! Nope, we want him to spend Christmas with a family all his own!
We just don't get t?
This boy is a doll! He needs a shepherd savvy family that wants a big ole lovebug of a dog and is just willing to give him a forever home.
The fact he has been with us since a pup may have folks questioning what " might be wrong with him"? Nothing at al!
Augie came to us as a young pup and by the time he was ready for adoption COVID hit, meaning no events, no exposure. So here we are.
Augie has been neutered, he is microchipped, he tested negative for heartworms, he weighs about 65 pounds, he is crate trained, he does well on car rides, he needs a strong handler for leash walks, he hates squirrels, he is not a fan of cats so no-go on that, and more than anything he needs a family that will be patient and permit him to adapt to a forever home.
Augie is a shepherd so he needs to " work". That means he thrives having activities! Things as simple as keeping a basket of toys in a livingroom and teaching them to " clean up" by gathering toys. This is actually a great activity and sometimes doubles as a searching or hunting game. Taking him for a long walk, a jog, a bike ride, or for play in the park, are all great activities.
Shepherds do best in active homes, so if you have one, make this a priority. Excess energy will lead to misbehavior, dogs are like children in that regard. Give them something to do, something that helps them burn off that energy, and they will be happy.
