Atticus's Story
Meet Atticus! He's a young adult German Shepherd, about 18 months old and 76 lbs. Atticus is all healed up from his recent neuter & got to go on a field trip. This is what his handler had to say about their day. “Atticus easily loads into the bed of a truck and travels very well. He enjoyed feeling like he had a bit of freedom on the 30’ line at the park and displayed a decent recall which he improved upon each time. True to his breed, his gait is free flowing and quickly covers ground. He bonds quickly to his handler and appreciates affection, allowing you to caress him throughout his entire body. Atticus is reactive to other dogs, but when a fellow dog walker allowed me to walk him back and forth past her well-mannered dog, Atticus settled down. He even reacted to his own reflection in the window of a business and settled again when realizing there was no threat. Need to access socialization with other dogs to see if he just has a more bark than bite attitude. It took very little to have him walk beautifully next to his handler's side on a loose line through town, probably has had some past basic obedience training. He’s a gorgeous red and black purebred German Shepherd that gets noticed and complimented on wherever he goes. Will be a good home protector and loving addition to a family.”
Atticus knows some basic commands and is food & toy motivated…so that will help with continuing his training.
We believe he could co-exist with a cat with slow, proper, supervised introductions & interactions, never even flinched when getting his vaccinations or microchip, and loaded right up into a crate in the van when asked to load, then rode in quietly in his crate.

Come check out our adoptable dogs at 2650 Washington Blvd, Crescent City, CA 95531. Kennels are open Mon-Fri, 9:30AM-3:30PM, or by appointment.

An adoption application will be required from those interested in providing a fab furever home to our dogs.
