Atlas’s FAQs

What is BARK Rescue CA’s adoption process?

Our adoption process requires potential adopters to complete our adoption application. If we feel that they may be a good match to the dog they're interested in or any other dogs we have available for adoption, we interview them with our foster coordinator and the foster who has been taking care of the dog. After the interview, to ensure a good fit between the dog and the potential adopter's home and lifestyle, we require a 30-day trial period with a nonrefundable 50% adoption fee. During the 30-day trial period, we pause all adoption promotions for the dog and pause all interviews with other potential adopters. The 50% nonrefundable adoption fee is a compensation for us for "holding" dog for that potential adopter for 30 days. If at the end of the 30-day trial period the potential adopter still decided to adopt the dog because they feel it's the right match, they would be required to sign an Adoption Agreement and pay the remainder of the adoption fee. If the potential adopter is already in our foster network, we waive the application and 30-day trial period but they will still be required to sign the Adoption Agreement and pay the remainder of the adoption fee.
