Aspen is as beautiful as she is sweet! She is a great girl who just wants a family to call her own. She gets along well with most dogs and has been a sweetheart to everyone she meets. We don't yet know how she will do with cats or children.
Aspen walks very well on the leash and loves playing with other dogs. She has a history of chewing up toys and bedding out of boredom, which is common in a young Border Collie. Her brain wants to work and she has a lot of energy to put into training and play time.
We often adopt same day as the first visit an interview but it is not guaranteed. Some dogs will take multiple visits and adopters are approved based on the best fit for the particular animal being considered. We do not hold pets during the process.
Most dogs who come from the shelter will not be house trained.
Most adoptable dogs will need some reintroduction into a home, potty training, basic manners and social skills. Please be prepared to provide that training and dedication that will be needed.
We do not have any way of knowing if a dog or cat will do well with all children or all other animals.
It is important everyone in the home is introduced to the new pet.
We also require that any family dogs come into meet your potential adoptee. Please be sure your dogs are spayed or neutered and current on vaccines (distemper - parvo and rabies) before bringing them to the shelter.
All dogs must be transported home in a travel crate to transport your new pup home safely.
Renters must provide a copy of a lease indicating pets are allowed or contact information for the landlord.
If you are interested in meeting or adopting one of our pets or have questions about the process please see our website at www.adoptmountainpets.org or call the Shelter between 11:00 am and 5:45 pm Tuesday through Saturday. 970 626 2273
