Meet Aslan

Meet Aslan! He is a lovable lapdog, wiggle butt supreme, and a fun-loving active sidekick. He is also our currently longest resident at the kennel! He has been waiting for a home since early July and he thinks it's finally his turn to get adopted.

Aslan is a goofy, ridiculously happy nugget with a silly but sweet personality. He has a zest for life and he can barely contain his wiggles when he's excited for a walk, play time, or just about anything. Aslan loves to play with toys, go for hikes and runs, or romp around with other dogs in play group. He is also just as enthusiastic about snuggling! He loves to wriggle up close to you and absorb all the scritches that he can.

Based on time spent on a sleepover, we can also share that Aslan is a derpy, loving house guest who already has some basic manners down. He is a great passenger in the car: he hops right in and lays down, and can self-entertain with a bone. He seems housebroken and was fine being crated overnight, and he is very quick to pick up on the household routine. He likes to explore but was also polite about not chewing anything he shouldn't. He's curious and likes to know what you're doing and be part of the action! Aslan has been playful with other dogs in play group and may enjoy another active canine companion. He would do better in a home without cats however.

Aslan is an affectionate boy who can barely contain himself when it comes to attention. He wants to be your lap dog, and if he’s not on top of you, he’s leaning as hard as he can against you. He loves to give kisses. If you work from home, he's a great assistant, ready to lay at your feet and nap or chew a bone.

All in all, Aslan is an amazing dog who will surely shine with just a bit of time to settle in. He is a super snuggler, an active buddy, and an overall great pal. He picks up on routine quickly and overall is a fast learner. He's ready to be someone's exuberant bro dog!

It's Aslan's time to find a home! This goober weighs 48 lbs and is estimated to be around 2 years old. Visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog to set up a meet!

The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bulls who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be.

Our Adoption Process...
Here's a little about how things work:
All of the CITY DOGS posted for adoption are available for direct adoption from the kennel, unless noted otherwise. You must schedule a meet with a dog in advance - we are not currently accepting walk-ins. Please look online first to see if there are any dogs you think would be a good fit for your home before scheduling a meet. To get the process started, visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog and fill out the form. One of our adoption counselors will get in touch to schedule and confirm your meet! At the kennel, an adoption counselor will introduce you and your family to the adoptable dogs, share information we know about them, and discuss our suggested ways for successfully integrating a new dog into your home. You are welcome to meet multiple dogs. If the dog you adopt is already fixed, he or she may leave with you that day - otherwise, the dog can go home after receiving the spay or neuter surgery.)

About Our Dogs: All available dogs have gone through a behavioral and medical assessment. This assessment is a snapshot of who the dog is at that given time. We cannot make any guarantees with regard to behavior, temperament or health of any City Dog once they are in the home. Most of our dogs are picked up as strays, so we do not know what kind of home environment they were living in (i.e. with kids, other dogs or other cats), nor do we know if most of them are house trained. Everything we know about them is based on volunteer and staff observations. We do have some dogs in foster homes, where they will have more information about how the dog is in a home environment. It is very hard to tell with certainty whether or not a dog will be good with kids, cats or another dog. If you have kids in the home or another dog, we do require that they be present for a meet and greet with the dog you are considering for adoption.

Heath/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within two weeks of leaving the kennel. All dogs receive their DAPPL, Rabies, and Bordatella vaccines, though you may be required to get follow up boosters. All dogs come microchipped and with a Cuyahoga County license.
