Meet Asher McMushy - Pawsitive Direction Program
Asher McMushy is STILL waiting for his forever home! This little 42lb cannonball has been in foster since the end of last year and, while we have had interest in him, we haven’t found that perfect fit yet. Don’t let his RBF fool you. Asher is a happy, fun, and loving boy! Please share this kid, so his forever family can find him!
Asher McMushy was found abandoned in a dog park late September/early October 2018. We’ll leave out all the drama surrounding how we got our hands on him, but he was Nicole’s (LARC President) birthday save because she couldn’t let him be euthanized. Asher had a minor femoral head fracture that we allowed to heal on its own per the advice of our awesome Orthopedic Surgeon. There’s a possibility he’s chondrodysplastic which is a form of dwarfism. He kind of looks like his body was put in the dryer on the high heat setting which caused it to shrink, but his head was left out, so it remained the average square size. He’s too friggin’ cute, we tell ya! X-rays show Asher does have degenerative joint disease which is most likely from poor breeding. He has been started on joint supplements and this will be a lifelong need (we use human grade which is just as effective, but more affordable). So, Asher McMushy walks with a little extra swagger in his back end, but he isn’t in pain.
* Approximately 3 year old American Bully (He's listed as an American Staffordshire on adoption sites because American Bully isn't an option. He's NOT a Pit Bull.)
* Fixed, UTD on shots, and microchipped
* Dog friendly
* Kid friendly. Would do best in a home with kids 6+ years old due to his exuberant nature.
* No cats. He gets too excited when he sees small furry animals.
* SUPER sweet, affectionate, and eager to learn and please
* HIGH energy - loves to play fetch, play with his canine friends, and snuggle.
*** Fenced yard REQUIRED - NONNEGOTIABLE ***
* Would excel at a lure course and agility
* House/kennel trained
* Graduated fully obedience trained, AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) ready, and PhD in Canine Life and Social Skills (CLASS) ready
* Has been trained in some PTSD assistance skills
