Asher American Bulldog Mix Griswold, CT

Asher is a 16 month old deaf America Bulldog. Asher has come so very far since joining the rescue.

Asher is a wrinkly, snuggly, beefy lover with super soft fur with the sweetest little spots. If you want a beefcake to wrap around and nap with, he is your man!
He is so eager to learn and be loved. He will do anything for treats and a thumbs up. He wants to play with other dogs and often licks and kisses them. He sometimes doesn't know his own strength and crashes into his pals. However, he never takes it personally when someone tells him off. He learns from their reaction and is often seen laying down fully while smaller dogs wrestle all around him on four legs. We have never seen any aggressive behavior from him.
I so admire his absolute wonder at everything he engages when we hike in the woods. Hiking is maybe his favorite thing to do in the world.

Asher is deaf, which is honestly a non-issue. You can easily get his attention with a pat, and he often is looking at you to see your reaction and seeking encouragement. Through hand commands, he knows here, sit, down, stay, come, and is learning how to walk nicely on a leash.

Asher's biggest challenge is his anxiety. He really likes his people with him. If you work from home, he would love to keep you company. However, he really doesn't complain if you put him in his crate. He loves his crate.

He is NOT a city dog. He would much rather stay in his own enclosed yard. Someone who likes to hike in the woods would be a perfect match for him.
Asher is also anxious and obsessive with shadows and reflecting lights. He gets worked up and barks and needs to have a time out to collect himself. Good thing he is comfortable in his crate.

Asher will make someone a great life partner. He is super sweet and loving, but needs someone with patience as he builds his confidence and skills.
