Artemis (aka Artie)'s Story
Mixed-breed pup Artemis is about 1 year old.

Sweet girl Artie came into the facility rather timid/fearful and not seeming to have had much experience on a leash, but she has a good attitude, loves the attention she is getting from volunteers and is learning quickly. She is smiling her face off now! So sweet!

A SHY GIRL UNTIL SHE WARMS UP
As we have worked on her training, we’ve realized Artie has some anxiety around new people and places. She has improved significantly in the shelter with volunteers feeding and walking her, but is still hesitant around new people. Artie needs a stable home with people experienced at reading her body language. She loves children she knows, but would do best with older kids. We are training her in the shelter, but she will need continued training to become a confident girl. Once she trusts volunteers, she has been excessively loving.

MEET/ADOPT!
Call 913-335-0788 to schedule an appointment.
Visit at 510 Organ Ave. 11-4 MWF.
E-mail fortleavenworthstrayfacility@gmail.com for an adoption application.

HEINZ 57???
We don't know what breeds of dog Artie is -- whippet is listed just because she is about that size (about 30-40 pounds) and when she bounds across the play yard, she reminds us of a greyhound. This pretty girl could be a mix of lab, pointer, terrier, all of the above, who knows...

Be sure to check out the video of her playdate with the other adoptable dogs in our care on FLSF's Facebook page. She and Bobbi had a blast! She can be a bit headstrong when meeting new dogs.

Featured as the Pet of the Week in the Dec. 4, 2025, and Dec. 11, 2025, issues of the Fort Leavenworth Lamp.

Came into the shelter with buddy Charlie), an already adopted miniature Aussie.

ADOPTED January 2026
