Meet Artemis

Artemis is a young male German Shepherd dog who was dumped in a rural area and rescued by a good Samaritan. At the time he was thin, was covered with fleas and ticks, and the pads on his front feet were completely raw. He was not microchipped and his owner could not be located.

Artie is now healthy. We estimate he is between 8 and 10 months old. He weighs almost 70 pounds. His foster mom says he is sweet and friendly with all people he meets. He has typical puppy mannerisms. He is a smart boy who likes dog puzzles and masters them pretty quickly.

Artemis is is house trained and crate trained. He sleeps in his crate throughout the night. He is learning basic obedience and does well with the sit command. He is learning stay, lay down and will hold a "leave it" for increasing periods of time.

Artie absolutely loves his squeaky balls and has a favorite stuffed animal he sleeps with. We hear he gravitates towards women. He doesn't fear or dislike men, but his foster mom (also his rescuer) is his favorite person.

Artie has boundless energy that may be too much for someone wanting a mellow dog. He is living with 4 other dogs who are tolerating his puppy energy. He is interested in the indoor cat and is doing okay with them but is always monitored. We call this “cat workable”. He would chase an outdoor cat.

Artie is living with older kids and enjoys being with them. His energy may be too much for small kiddos.
