Meet Arnie (or Arnie llama as his doting foster parents like to call him - his long legs remind them of a baby llama). Arnie is a very special boy who will need a very special forever home. Found as a stray puppy with his litter in Texas, he came to his foster parents as one of the most fearful pups they’d ever met. After months of patience and love, Arnie is finally learning to trust people. He needs a family or individual committed to continuing to teach him that he is safe and loved. He is a 17 pound, 18 month old Cairn terrier mix, excellent with other dogs (they bring him comfort), good with respectful children, and has not interacted with cats. He has very much taken to his foster dad much more so than his foster mom and seems to prefer men over women. He is potty-trained and sleeps through the night in bed with his foster parents and two foster fur siblings. His foster parents noticed early on that the was exhibiting some behavior that could be indicative of a seizure disorder. After a thorough examination and blood work, the vet concluded that he is a perfectly healthy pup but he may have some residual neorological deficits from being malnourished as a newborn puppy. Thus, he is prone to compulsive “fly-snapping” behavior. He was prescribed Zonisamide, a mild anti-convulsant, and he has done remarkably well on it. The medication is twice daily and costs approximately $10-15/ month. Arnie is a very gentle, sweet soul who is hungry for love and family. If you have an immense amount of patience and a big heart, he would be an incredible addition to your home.
