Meet Aria

Aria is ready for her forever family!

When Aria came into rescue, she arrived severely underweight due to an undiagnosed and untreated condition known as EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency). This meant her body could not produce enough enzymes to properly absorb nutrition from her food.

EPI can be common in GSDs, but it is easy to treat once diagnosed. Once Aria began getting her supplemental enzymes in foster care, everything changed for this young girl. Her weight is now perfectly normal. Her coat is luxurious and full. She's a happy, sweet, smart, sassy GSD -- and she is ready to find her forever family!

Here's the food and medication routine on which our beautiful girl now thrives:

* 2 cups of Purinia Pro Plan Large Breed kibble (salmon and rice), fed twice per day
* 1 scoop of PancreVed powder (a digestive enzyme supplement) with each meal
* 1 Apoquel tablet (an allergy treatment) with each meal.

Aria has not yet lived with other dogs, so a dog-testing meet-and-greet would be recommended if you have a current dog at home.

As a result of her prior malnutrition, she is food obsessed! Not food aggression of any sort, it's just that she'll just hunt down and nab any food left within her reach. So if she does live with other dogs, allowing "grazing" or free-feeding won't work well for her. She'll happily devour anything you put out for anybody even if it's not "hers." Aria's hyper-focus on food may relax now that she's recovered and thriving on her routine, but if not, we want her new family to be prepared!

We DO know that kitties or other small scurrying creatures are a big NO for Aria. She will chase with intent!

Aria didn't have much in the way of training when she arrived, but she's proven to be a smart young girl. She's rocking her leash manners, sits politely for her food, and will ask to go outside for bathroom time.
