Archie's Story

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/generic
You can learn about the adoption process http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.

Dog's Name: Archie (ARC0821OWSMN)
Estimated Breed: Beagle/Feist
Approximate Age: 3-4 years
Approximate Weight: approx. 45 lbs
Currently Living at: Foster
Adoption Fee: $375

DOG'S DESCRIPTION: Archie is a happy, exuberant, and loving pup. Which is remarkable given the life he's had. He was rescued from an animal hoarding situation in Tennessee where food and human affection were scarce. Years of competing for resources with 16 brothers and sisters left him anxious and reactive around other dogs. With training, he is slowly overcoming this reactivity, but it is slow going. His ideal forever home would have a yard since walking him in neighborhoods with other dogs can be a challenge. Now for the good stuff. Have you noticed how cute he is? In person, he's even cuter. Just look at that face and imagine it showering you with kisses, as he is want to do. Archie loves playing with toys and tennis balls and generally make a spectacle of himself for his foster's enjoyment. He's a real ham, and they think he knows it! When he isn't performing, he is very desirous of proximity and physical affection. In truth, he's a bit needy. The payoff is oodles of self-confidence. If you've ever wanted a front man who makes you feel like the greatest thing ever, Archie's your guy. Do you have room in your home and hearts for Archie? We sure hope you do. Archie's current fosters are expecting their first child and, as such, will be unable to continue his training. He is in dire need of immediate placement. Without it, he will be returned to our kennel, where he has already wiled away years of his adorable life. We hope it doesn't come to that. If you can help, either via adoption or fostering, please reach out.

Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.

Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (for dogs over 6 months old), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets.

Foster Program: Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.
