Archie Beagle & Cattle Dog Mix South Elgin, IL

Hello there, I'm Archie, a lively 1-year-old Beagle/Cattle dog mix with a heart full of curiosity and a spirit that's as boundless as my energy. I ended up at the shelter because my family had to move, but I'm here with a wagging tail and a heart full of hope, looking for a new family to call my own.

At 55 lbs, I'm the perfect mix of cuddly and active. I absolutely love being close to my humans, especially at night when I can snuggle up and keep you warm. But don't be fooled by my cuddly side - I'm a very active dog who needs my daily dose of exercise. Whether it's a game of fetch, a run in the park, or a hike in the woods, I'm always up for an adventure.

I have a love for chewing, especially on bones, elk antlers, and any other sturdy toys you provide. I'm housetrained, and I take my meals very seriously (I love meal time!) I'm also quite the explorer and will follow you everywhere you go. I'm a fast learner, so I've been working on breaking some habits like jumping on counters, but I promise I'm getting better every day.

I have a unique tail with a kink in it, which gives me a one-of-a-kind charm, and I have adorable black markings around my eyes that make me look like I'm wearing eye makeup. How cool is that?

Outdoors is where I truly come to life. I love running around, chasing squirrels and rabbits, and playing tug of war. I do have a penchant for digging, so I'll need a watchful eye in the yard. I've mastered the art of signaling when I need to go out by ringing the bells on the door, so you'll always know when I want to explore the great outdoors.

I'm good on a leash and gentle when taking treats. I'm also quite smart, friendly, and inquisitive. I've been crate trained, although I'm starting to outgrow my love for it, but with patience and positive reinforcement, I can adjust.

Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
