Hi I’m April, my foster mom says I’m very smart, sweet & cuddly! I love toys, my favorite thing to do is get one of my many toys and race around the house growling. My foster mom thinks it’s hilarious. I don’t know why I growl, I think it’s fun to hear my own voice. I didn’t know I had one until a few weeks ago and surprised myself when I first started talking!
I love people and the other K-9’s in my foster family. It would be nice to have a yard and play mates when I get a forever family. But most important is I want a family who loves me just for me. My last family couldn’t take care of me and they took me and 4 of my playmates to the shelter and left us. It was so scary, I don’t want that to ever happen again. I want a forever family. If you get to adopt me I promise I will love you forever!
I understand a lot of words, I definitely know what “NO” means! I am learning to stay in the kennel when my family is eating dinner and I don’t mind being in the kennel at night as long as I can see my foster mom. I want to be near my family because I am still a baby and it’s scary being alone.
April is a very active, energetic 16 week old puppy. She needs one more booster shot before she is fully vaccinated. We place puppies with adoptive families as a foster adoption and finalize the adoption when the puppy is old enough to have spay or neuter surgery. Puppies under 9-12 months need good consistent training. She is doing very well with house training and will use pee pads on her own. She will readily go outside to potty with her foster mom. April is well on her way to being house trained, all she needs is good weather and a consistent schedule.
** Please note: Due to their size, our dogs are not suitable for homes with children under 5..
We do not have a facility, all dogs are fostered in the homes of our volunteers. If you are interested in adopting a dog from Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws, please visit our website at www.lilpaws-malteserescue.org and fill out an adoption application. This is the first step in our adoption process. Our goal is to place our dogs in safe, stable and loving homes in the Austin Metropolitan area. Thanks for looking!
Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws depends on donations to keep the dogs in our program healthy. Many health issues are taken care of before a dog leaves a rescue: spaying, neutering, immunizations, dental care, and in some cases major surgery. Because of the cost of this care, donations are essential to enable us to continue our work. If you would like to show appreciation for what we do and help us continue to do it please go to our website homepage and click the donate button. We thank you in advance for your support.
